POSITION SUMMARY
The BIM/VDC Coordinator is a pivotal member of our construction team, possessing advanced skills in BIM and VDC coordination. This role requires close collaboration with project management to oversee all modeling activities, including 2D and 3D coordination and the creation of shop drawings. We are looking for a dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced, engaging environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Review and produce 2D and 3D electrical schematics for on-site installations and coordinate with various subcontractor trades.
· Engage in coordination meetings to address conflicts while adhering to budgetary constraints, constructability, and NEC code compliance.
· Generate shop drawings, cross-sections of underground conduits, cables, and other electrical systems as necessary for fabrication and installation teams.
· Prepare documentation to seek clarification on original designs through RFIs and follow up on responses.
· Interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical floor plans, sections, and elevations.
· Collaborate with the engineer of record and project management to resolve issues and communicate adjustments to production or construction teams.
· Travel to various project sites as needed.
· Perform additional duties as required.
· Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
The ideal BIM/VDC Coordinator will either be a Journeyman Electrician or possess prior experience as an Assistant BIM/VDC Detailer, BIM/VDC Detailer, or have a related background in engineering, technical design, or construction management. The following qualifications are required:
· If a Journeyman Electrician, the following are mandatory:
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· Proof of Journeyman's license.
· At least 2 years of drafting experience, with 3 years preferred.
· Comprehensive understanding of construction blueprints, specifications, and Requests for Information (architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and special systems).
· Proficiency in 3D coordination with other trades.
· Basic computer skills (e.g., folder structure, emails & attachments, keyboard shortcuts).
· Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
· Familiarity with BIM 360 Glue, BIM Collaborate, or other model viewing/collaboration software is preferred.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
For candidates with experience as a BIM/VDC Assistant Coordinator, Assistant BIM/VDC Detailer, BIM/VDC Detailer, or related fields in engineering, technical design, or construction management, the following qualifications are required unless otherwise noted as preferred:
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· Minimum of 2 years' experience as a BIM/VDC Assistant Coordinator; or 5 years' experience as an Assistant BIM/VDC Detailer, BIM/VDC Detailer, or related engineering, technical design, or construction management experience using Autodesk Revit and Navisworks.
· Experience with AutoCAD, BIM 360 Glue, BIM Collaborate, or other model viewing/collaboration software is preferred.
· Knowledge of all facets of construction blueprints, specifications, and Requests for Information.
· Familiarity with 3D coordination with other trades.
· Basic computer skills (e.g., folder structure, emails & attachments, keyboard shortcuts).
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands of this position must be met to successfully perform essential functions. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods, frequently stand and walk, and use hands for various tasks. Specific vision abilities include viewing computer monitors. Some duties may be performed under challenging conditions typical of a construction site, including exposure to outdoor elements and equipment noise.
