Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced centrifugal compressor components, including gears, bearings, and rotating equipment
  • Evaluate mechanical aspects to ensure product meets life cycle requirements, including stress, vibration, and fatigue analysis
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement planning for compressor development, including design and review milestones
  • Communicate with suppliers and vendors to determine manufacturability and ensure all designed parts are manufactured as specified
  • Develop and implement test programs for prototypes, including design of experiments for complex problems
  • Analyze test data and reports to ensure designs meet functional, performance, and safety specifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 7+ years of related experience, with higher-level degree substituting for years of experience
  • Experience with turbomachinery, preferably centrifugal compressors
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including stress analysis, mechanics of materials, vibration, fatigue, and failure modes
  • Knowledge of centrifugal compressor component design, including gears, bearings, rotating equipment, motors, casting, and machining parts
  • Experience in product testing and data acquisition, with emphasis on compressor performance validation
  • Strong team player with focus on team goals, objectives, and deadlines
  • Basic skills with CAD applications

Preferred Requirements

  • Familiarity with global HVAC principles and practices, as well as mechanical component design standards (ASHRAE, GB, ISO, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of test data analysis software and tools
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, communicating effectively, clearly, and logically
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
