Key Responsibilities

The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-focused respiratory care in line with departmental requirements and professional standards. As an essential member of the patient care team, the therapist will conduct various diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures while monitoring patients on both invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting and documenting patient assessments, including breath sounds and airway integrity.
  • Administering respiratory therapies, such as oxygen delivery and aerosol medication.
  • Assisting with the placement of artificial airways and managing mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitoring patient responses to therapy and intervening as necessary.
  • Facilitating the transport of patients reliant on ventilators.
  • Responding to emergency situations to ensure airway safety and effective ventilation.
Qualifications
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required within 30 days of employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required within 30 days of employment.
  • Neonate Resuscitation certification required within 90 days of employment.
  • PALS certification required within 90 days of employment.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) license from the Texas Medical Board.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist license from the NBRC.
  • Associate Degree preferred.
