The Paramedic is responsible for delivering patient care that aligns with their training and licensure. Key responsibilities include comprehensive patient evaluations, management of airway and breathing issues, CPR and defibrillation, shock treatment, emergency childbirth assistance, and addressing various medical emergencies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and provide urgent care in the field
    • Manage airway and breathing effectively
    • Perform CPR and utilize defibrillation techniques
    • Identify and treat shock conditions
    • Assist in emergency childbirth situations
    • Address medical emergencies with precision
  • Utilize advanced life support skills as necessary, including intravenous access, advanced airway management, and medication administration
  • Maintain accurate patient care documentation within an electronic medical record system
  • Supervise EMTs under their guidance, ensuring high standards of care
  • Operate agency vehicles safely in both emergency and non-emergency situations, adhering to all operational guidelines

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current New York State Paramedic license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accredited organization
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Completion of Emergency Vehicle Operator's Certification within the first year of employment

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks typical of a Paramedic in the field

Work Environment:

  • Positions available across multiple sites in Schuyler County
  • Flexible per diem shifts for traditional coverage and event standby

Compensation:

  • Hourly wage ranging from $26.00 to $30.00
