The Paramedic is responsible for executing patient care activities aligned with their training and professional scope. Key responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessments, airway management, CPR, defibrillation, shock treatment, emergency childbirth, and managing various medical emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and provide urgent care in the field
- Manage basic and advanced airway and breathing techniques
- Perform CPR and utilize defibrillation equipment
- Identify and treat shock conditions
- Assist in emergency childbirth scenarios
- Address medical emergencies effectively
- Utilize advanced life support skills as necessary, including intravenous access, advanced airway equipment, and medication administration
- Document patient care activities within an electronic medical record system
- Supervise EMTs during patient care as the highest licensure level
- Operate agency vehicles safely in both emergency and non-emergency situations, adhering to all operational guidelines
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid New York State Paramedic license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Completion of Emergency Vehicle Operator's Certification within the first year of employment
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the Paramedic role in various environments
Work Environment:
- Positioned at multiple sites within Schuyler County
- Flexible scheduling for shift coverage and emergency standby events
Compensation:
Hourly wage ranges from $26.00 to $30.00.
