EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a related field in Human Services

EXPERIENCE: Preferred experience in counseling or a minimum of two years in the Human Services sector

SALARY: $19.11 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Victim Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting the agency and the domestic violence program by providing support to survivors both individually and in group environments. The focus is on achieving objectives related to safety, establishing boundaries, enhancing self-worth, and fostering healthy relationships while embodying the mission and services of Pinnacle Community Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related discipline is required
  • Understanding of family violence dynamics and experience working with children
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with web-based databases

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct assessments through counseling sessions to evaluate client needs and develop treatment plans for survivors and their families.
  • Deliver services in accordance with established service plans for individuals in the shelter and community.
  • Collaborate with the Residential Manager and other team members to respond to urgent needs and hotline inquiries.
  • Facilitate support groups addressing various topics for survivors of domestic violence.
  • Utilize community resources for referrals related to counseling, financial assistance, medical services, education, and housing.
  • Attend relevant court and community appointments as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of client interactions and activities.
  • Promote awareness of agency services and educational materials within the community.
  • Assist residential staff with coverage duties as needed.
  • Engage in regular supervision and team meetings to discuss case management.
  • Adapt to high-stress situations to meet the needs of clients effectively.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Primarily operates in a shelter/residential setting and office environment, with occasional community outreach.
  • May involve light lifting and frequent movement.
  • Job may require working under moderate stress.
