Job Summary:

Dover Precision Components is seeking a highly skilled Machining Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing department, you will be responsible for setting up and operating computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines to perform machining operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and process technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements, dimensional specifications, setup, and operating requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, program, set up, and complete CNC machining-related activities for each project, including wire EDM setup and operation.
  • Set up and operate all CNC milling equipment, including writing programs using Gibbs CAM and editing CNC mills.
  • Looked to as a leader in the facility, frequently has continues improvement ideas and tries to increase morale in the shop by having a positive attitude.
  • Interpret work instructions and identify, select, and install proper tooling for operations being performed.
  • Calculate proper feeds and speeds for a variety of steel grades, copper, brass, aluminum, and bronze.
  • Read, understand, edit, or write complete programs and intuitively understand capabilities of tooling and machinery.
  • Understand applicable quality systems and perform necessary quality inspections.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures and apply principles of Lean Manufacturing to reduce setup times and improve productivity.
  • Actively participate in daily Continuous Improvement activities and create and maintain a team-focused work environment.
  • Employee must be able to set up all necessary measuring equipment and routinely check the calibration of the equipment while measuring.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in machining operations.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5 years of trade school or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Experience machining finish-grade components to tight tolerances.
