CAD Engineer Job Overview

HF Custom/Sam Moore, a division of Hooker Furnishings Corporation, is seeking a skilled CAD Engineer to join our engineering team in Bedford, VA. As a CAD Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining our CAD system, ensuring the highest level of efficiency and quality in our fabric and leather patterns.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Digitize fabric and leather patterns into our CAD system.
  • Develop and maintain models, variants, and markers for each active style.
  • Provide cost data for fabric patterns and kits for every developed style.
  • Review data to achieve the highest possible efficiency for fabric.
  • Analyze new fabrics and Customers Own Material (C.O.M.) to determine how each fabric is run.
  • Check repeat measurements on all fabrics to ensure quality meets Sam Moore standards.
  • Assist cutting, sewing, upholstery, and C.O.M. departments with daily needs.
  • Aid customer service team with yardage quotes for customers.
  • Develop cost profiles for all market samples.
  • Assist with training new CAD room employees.
  • Review all work developed by others before releasing to production.
  • Maintain system maintenance with daily backups and file management.
  • Assist engineering with improving and changing developed styles.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate spreadsheets.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or other STEM-related field preferred.
  • Previous experience with CAD/CAM software (AutoCAD) preferred.
  • Previous experience in fabric cutting, sewing, or upholstery preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Detailed-oriented.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, production environment.
