Job DescriptionJob Description

A manufacturing company is seeking a Designer Engineer to perform research and come up with new ideas for products and the systems used to create them and analyze existing products with a view to improving their efficiency and overall performance. Work hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create draft and design products
  • Coordinate with Quality, Sales, and Warehouse Departments
  • Communicate with the customer in a professional manner on design and receive final sign off
  • Take cost, safety, legal regulations, maintenance, and the environment into consideration
  • Research, design and create new products
  • Determine the target audience of the product and the different ways in which it may be used
  • Develop virtual models of different designs using computer software
  • Find out the manufacturing requirements by examining materials and production costs
  • Present designs and perform demonstrations of product prototypes for the approval of clients
  • Evaluate the function, safety, and appearance of products to ensure they have a practical design

Job Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Must have at least 3 years experience
  • Must have an understanding of different manufacturing methods and an extensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the qualities of various materials; especially metals is needed
  • Must have the ability to carry out detailed research
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks, CAD, and Microsoft Office is required
  • Must have a desire to keep up to date with new developments and a creative approach when it comes to generating new ideas
  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must have the ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
