Position Overview:

In this dynamic and technical role, you will work alongside a diverse team of healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care. The Certified Surgical Technician II is knowledgeable about the surgical procedures being conducted and ensures that all necessary tools, instruments, and materials are prepared and accessible for each operation. You will proactively anticipate the surgeon's requirements and manage the instruments and supplies throughout the surgical process. Additionally, you will assist in the setup and turnover of the operating room for subsequent procedures.

Qualifications:


• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program, military training, or an Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology is preferred
• Basic Life Support certification
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is mandatory
• Must possess advanced skills in at least three surgical specialties (specific specialties will be determined by the facility)

Key Responsibilities:


• Anticipate the surgical team's needs by ensuring all instruments and supplies are ready for the procedure.
• Provide instruments to the surgeon and assistant during the operation.
• Assist in the thorough cleaning of the operating room and preparation for the next case.
• Begin the process of organizing the back table and preparing instruments for cleaning and sterilization as the circulator prepares the patient for discharge from the room.
• Return instruments to their designated trays for transport to the Sterile Processing Department.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures, including count protocols, universal safety measures, and medication labeling.
• Mentor students and less experienced staff on the proper techniques for passing and retrieving instruments during surgical operations.
