Position Overview

This part-time role requires 20-27 hours per week, including weekend shifts, typically spanning 2 to 3 days a week from Sunday to Thursday, between 4:00 AM and 10:00 AM.

Responsible for conducting inventory assessments, managing damaged or defective merchandise, processing returns to vendors, minimizing salvage, obtaining return authorizations, and re-packaging sellable items. Collaborates across departments to fulfill inventory control duties effectively.

Understand Your Role:

Learn to access and interpret production and financial performance reports for your department. Recognize the link between consistent execution and its positive impact on the business.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Collaborate proactively with department teams to track, plan, coordinate, and execute inventory counts as directed by Home Office within set deadlines. Adhere to established counting processes and procedures. Secure return authorizations from vendors, manage vendor chargebacks, and handle merchandise returns according to vendor policies. Maintain accurate inventory records for all damaged, defective, and returned items. Review breakage logs for leaking, spoiled, and broken items and manage inventory accordingly. Process freezer and dairy damages. Conduct daily safety inspections in the absence of RTV. Understand community donation initiatives and manage salvage and donation orders. Implement merchandise protection measures for designated items. Review daily return reports, manage merchandise recalls, and handle tire and battery returns. Re-package sellable items using appropriate sealing and shrink-wrapping techniques. Ensure the department remains organized and clean, adhering to safety and filing standards. Enter weekly front door recoveries into the case management system as directed. Uphold all club policies and procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned, including support in other departments as necessary. Regular, predictable attendance is essential for this role.

Qualifications

Completion of required training and certification processes is mandatory. Strong communication, interpersonal, and computer skills are essential. Basic math skills are required. Candidates must be at least 18 years old.

Work Environment

Most tasks involve movement on hard surfaces, with frequent bending, climbing, crawling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. Regularly requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds; may involve lifting heavier items with assistance. Use of a pallet jack may be necessary. Exposure to indoor and outdoor temperatures, including extreme conditions in freezers and coolers. Frequent exposure to hazardous materials. Forklift training is optional.

At BJ's Wholesale Club, we consider various non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as location, education, experience, and qualifications. The starting pay range for this position is $14.00.
