Key Responsibilities:

  • Train, supervise, and evaluate cafeteria staff to perform duties as required by the Food Service Department.
  • Foster a teamwork environment that contributes to the operation of a successful cafeteria.
  • Support the Assistant Manager in administrative functions.
  • Assign daily work station duties to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Train employees on cashiering duties and monitor production sheets.
  • Comply with Health Department codes for food service.
  • Confirm reimbursable trays and maintain proper signage for the Food Service Program.
  • Oversee the student reimbursable snack program and maintain the A La Cart snack program.
  • Set up meal service and clean up at designated campuses.
  • Act on day-to-day situations, working closely with school personnel and parents to ensure smooth operation of the free and reduced lunch function.
  • Accurately maintain and reconcile financial records for the Office of Child Nutrition free and reduced lunch program.
  • Effectively record meal counts on a daily basis.
  • Work as a prep-cook and assist in meal preparation.
  • Serve students, teachers, and guests while maintaining safety precautions.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and cafeteria area.
  • Store stock in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Support recycling and composting efforts.

Requirements:

  • Fundamental understanding of sanitation and cleanliness.
  • Requires moderate physical effort, including standing, carrying, bending, stretching, stooping, pulling, pushing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with the team.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to problem-solve effectively.
  • Manager Food Handlers card required.
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit, be proactive, and flexible, and willing to play different roles in the kitchen.
  • Model positive and healthy character traits and habits.
  • Unquestioned integrity and commitment to KIPP Texas Austin.
