Job Summary:

Centerline Logistics Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Port Engineer to join our team. As a Port Engineer, you will be responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and performing vessel repair and maintenance, as well as coordinating purchasing of parts and repair services and supplies. You will also be responsible for scheduling routine maintenance requirements for tugs and barges, performing inspections of vessels for repair and maintenance standards, and keeping accurate records of all maintenance performed using company software program.

Responsibilities:

• Schedule, coordinate, and perform flow of work based on customer orders, establish priorities and availability of personnel, equipment, and resources.
• Keep records of maintenance performed, hours used, fuel burned, and report to different funding agencies.
• Schedule routine maintenance of tugs and barges.
• Manage oil analysis program.
• Coordinate the purchasing of parts and services for repair and maintenance projects.
• Perform inspections of vessels for repair and maintenance standards, regulatory Compliance and AWO RCP program.
• Compile and prioritize worklists for each vessel for both routine and major maintenance (drydock periods).
• Track actual costs of repair and projects against budget.
• Perform emergency repairs on vessels as required.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Experience maintaining tugs and barges.
• Two (2) years of experience on tugs, tankers, oil barges or equivalent military experience.
• Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in the maritime industry.
• Four year college education in Maritime field, related studies or have (5) years of experience as engineer on tugs, or other sea going motorized vessels.
• U.S. Coast Guard license on a Merchant Mariners Document strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of oil transportation and marine industry preferred.
• Knowledge of tugs and barge maintenance systems and equipment.
• Ability to repair marine equipment on site under adverse conditions.
• Ability to work with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
• Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.
• Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance.
• Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crewmembers.
• Must be thoroughly familiar with tank barge operations, ship operations, and terminal/refinery operations.
• Proficient using Microsoft Suite.
• Valid State drivers' license.
• Valid TWIC or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Must be physically fit to board barges and tugs at sea and in port.
• Use of Computer (Word and Excel).
• First Aid/CPR training preferred.

Job Condition and Environment:

• Capable of making decisions and giving directions to facilitate prompt service delivery.
• Required to work aboard boats and barges using pike poles, heavy lines, winches, mechanical tools for repairs.
• Frequently required to board tugs, barges, and ships, at dock or at anchor in all weather conditions and at all hours.

Expected Hours of Work:

• Normal office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
• Takes communications 24 hours a day, including weekends, concerning vessel maintenance, repair, and operations.
