Job Overview

The Maintenance Technician is a key member of our facilities team, responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks and repairs to ensure the upkeep of our community facilities. This role requires a reliable and detail-oriented individual who can work independently and as part of a team to achieve common goals.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including minor repairs and adjustments to ensure the upkeep of community facilities.
  • Manage and execute work orders efficiently, addressing maintenance requests from residents and staff in a timely manner.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and report any issues to the Facilities Manager.
  • Carry out routine tasks such as changing light bulbs, fixing leaks, and performing other minor repairs.
  • Support the cleaning and upkeep of common areas and facilities to maintain cleanliness and appearance.
  • Manage and maintain tools and supplies used for maintenance tasks, ensuring they are well-organized and in good condition.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures while performing maintenance tasks to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Provide assistance with special projects as needed, supporting the Facilities Manager and other team members.
  • Deliver professional customer service to residents and staff, addressing maintenance concerns with a positive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Participate in routine preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity and functionality of community facilities.
  • Help monitor and report inventory levels of maintenance supplies and materials, ensuring availability for ongoing tasks.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities, including completed work orders and inventory usage, to maintain clear records.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with residents and staff.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to complete tasks accurately.
  • Basic problem-solving skills to address maintenance issues efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Familiarity with standard maintenance practices and basic hand tools.
  • Experience working collaboratively with team members and other departments to achieve common goals.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, even if not a specialist in these areas.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in maintenance or handyman work preferred but not required.
  • While not mandatory, relevant certifications or coursework in maintenance or related fields could be advantageous.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
  • Must have manual dexterity for using hand tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to perform tasks in various weather conditions and environments.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Travel
  • Valid California State Driver's License and state-mandated insurance.
