Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Clerk IV to join our team at the University of Iowa Healthcare. As a key member of our nursing operations team, you will be responsible for creating real-time staffing plans, troubleshooting preliminary plans, and disseminating final plans to nursing leadership and unit Charge RNs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement staffing plans for 24 individual inpatient units within 3 adult inpatient divisions, utilizing specialized subject matter knowledge and collaborating with nursing leadership and unit Charge RNs.
  • Apply knowledge of policies and procedures regarding payroll, including FCGL, FMLA, and other pay types, to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll.
  • Serve as a resource person for supervisory and administrative staff on staffing plans, targets, and grids, escalating issues and questions as necessary to nursing leadership.
  • Monitor and report challenges and changes related to staffing practices, plans, and scheduling patterns to nursing leadership.
  • Ensure timely and efficient completion of electronic processes related to staffing plans.
Requirements
  • Any combination of progressively responsible related clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and/or post-high school clerical training equivalent to four years of full-time employment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ELMS, staffing patterns, and staff assignments for inpatient units.
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
