Job Title: Clinical Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Coordinator to join our team at the University of Iowa Community Clinics. As a Clinical Coordinator, you will play a critical role in providing nursing leadership and oversight for primary and specialized patient care populations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new initiatives, including new service lines, expanding clinics, and adding new providers.
  • Collaborate with nursing, medical staff, and other health professionals to plan, deliver, and evaluate care for primary and specialty patient populations.
  • Lead nursing personnel in providing specialized patient procedures and care management plans.
  • Participate in evidence-based projects and collaborate with the appropriate CPL or NPL staff member to implement practice changes.
  • Provide specialized health education to patients and health profession students.
  • Adhere to internal and regulatory policies and guidelines.
  • Create clinic staffing schedules and represent the clinic at daily staffing huddles.
  • Assist with reviewing benefit requests in the time tracking system.
  • Participate in recruitment, developing, and managing the performance of staff.
  • Apply expertise in communicating real-time feedback and direction to clinical staff.
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical staff, family members, and UICC leadership.
  • Apply expertise in specialized fields to improve nursing outcomes, lead and participate in evidence-based projects, and implement team-based care.
  • Troubleshoot and manage facility issues in real-time.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives.
  • Provide direct patient care and nurse triage responsibilities as needed, floating to other clinics as needed.
Requirements:
  • A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.
  • 1-3 years of nursing experience is required.
  • Valid license to practice nursing in the state of Iowa.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Internet.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1 to 3 years' experience in patient care, particularly those with ambulatory specialty, family med, or pediatrics.
  • Demonstrated leadership and training skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families, and healthcare workers.
  • Familiarity with UIHC and ambulatory clinic workflows.
  • Minimum 1 year experience leading changes in nursing-based care (i.e., team-based care or similar initiatives).
  • Minimum 1 year ambulatory leadership experience (i.e., charge nurse, etc.).
  • Previous experience successfully working autonomously.
  • Previous experience leading survey readiness for accreditation.
