Department Overview

The Internal Traveler will be engaged across various sites and settings, offering flexibility in scheduled hours. Compensation includes regular pay along with a stipend. All facilities utilize the same EMR system.

Job Summary


The role involves planning, organizing, and delivering physical therapy programs aimed at assisting clients/patients/residents in recovering and enhancing their mobility, alleviating pain, increasing strength, and preventing deformities.

Responsibilities include conducting assessments, evaluations, and interventions for clients/patients/residents impacted by injury or illness. The specialist will employ various tools and techniques to implement physical therapy interventions while adhering to safety protocols. Accurate documentation of client/patient/resident information is essential for evaluation; establishing and adjusting therapeutic plans as needed. Educating clients/patients/residents and their families about treatment plans and self-exercises for home continuation is a key aspect of the role. Knowledge of age-appropriate treatments and evaluations is required to meet the diverse needs of clients/patients/residents. The specialist will integrate current research into daily treatment practices.

Services may be provided to individuals of all ages with a range of diagnoses and disorders. Documentation must comply with departmental guidelines and meet all regulatory standards. The specialist will demonstrate treatment levels aligned with their area of expertise provided to clients/patients/residents. Adherence to accepted clinical practice guidelines is mandatory.

Flexibility in accepting variable work schedules and assignments is expected. Participation in initiatives to promote the department, Good Samaritan Society, and Sanford Health is encouraged.

Interactions with individuals outside the department may include providers, case managers, third-party payers, and public organizations. The specialist may supervise assistants, aides, and students in delivering client/patient/resident care and treatment. Ongoing education and training for peers in areas of expertise as determined by department leadership is required.

Responsibilities may focus on individuals receiving interventions in post-acute, long-term care, outpatient, and home health settings based on facility needs and assigned locations.

This internal travel position will be exclusively at Good Samaritan locations utilizing the same EMR system.

Qualifications

Appropriate educational qualifications are required in accordance with state licensure. Must hold a valid license in the state(s) of practice as a Physical Therapist. A valid driver's license may be necessary when applicable. Maintenance of required department-specific competencies and certifications is essential. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers is required or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
