About the Position

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our faculty as a Assistant or Associate Professor in the Division of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science at the University of Minnesota Medical School.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, with a focus on neurological rehabilitation. This will include developing and teaching comprehensive courses in physical therapy management of adults with neuromuscular dysfunction, as well as contributing to direct teaching and student mentoring in additional areas of content expertise or program needs.

The candidate will also be expected to maintain clinical expertise and Board Certification eligibility through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, and contribute to committee and professional service, faculty governance of the DPT program, as well as the Department, Medical School, and University.

Additionally, the faculty member will contribute to the scholarly mission of the Division, through an active commitment to excellence in a defined area of clinical scholarship.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a physical therapy degree with eligibility for Minnesota licensure, an earned DPT, and clinical board certification in neurological physical therapy. Preference will be given to applicants with prior academic experience, a history of scholarly publications, strong inter-personal skills, a team-based philosophy, and commitment and passion for the profession of physical therapy and its ongoing advancement to benefit care provision and patient outcomes for diverse populations.

Candidates should have a demonstrated capacity for academic collaboration, and a commitment to inclusive, trauma-informed teaching, supporting anti-racism efforts, and supporting students to success.
