About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at Comprehensive Outpatient Joint and Spine Institute (COJSI). As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth execution of surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient safety.
  • Assist the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment, adhering to strict protocols and guidelines.
  • Prepare and gather necessary surgical supplies and equipment, conducting thorough counts and verifying accuracy.
  • Assist in gowning and gloving surgeons and assistants, ensuring proper attire and hygiene.
  • Participate in maintaining accurate and up-to-date physician preference cards.
  • Transport and process surgical specimens, confirming source and name with the surgeon.
  • Contribute to the cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets, adhering to strict quality control standards.
  • Interact effectively with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
  • Adhere to Standard Universal Precautions, hand hygiene, and personal protective equipment guidelines to ensure a safe environment.
  • Participate in environmental hazard and infection control surveillance, and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Stay up-to-date with equipment and safety guidelines, utilizing knowledge and skills to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team, serving as a resource and contributing to a positive work environment.
  • Attend in-services, conferences, and meetings as required, staying informed and engaged.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, and staff, maintaining patient, physician, and employee confidentiality.
  • Maintain designated certifications, such as CPR, as offered by the center.
  • Align with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center, adhering to policies and procedures.
