Key Responsibilities

The Home Health Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant (PTA, LPTA) is responsible for implementing treatment plans and providing exercise guidance and patient education aimed at enhancing the patient's overall health while adhering to the prescribed care plan.

  • Ensure compliance with all state regulations governing physical therapy in home care, executing treatments as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist, and performing only those procedures for which you are qualified and trained.
  • Assist and instruct patients in both active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, mobility training, activities of daily living (ADL), safety protocols, and prosthetic use.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate with the supervising Physical Therapist, nursing supervisor, and/or physician regarding the patient's progress and any changes in their condition. Collaborate with other healthcare team members as necessary.
  • Educate patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare team members about therapy practices within the scope of the physical therapy assistant's role.

Required Qualifications

Licensing Requirements

  • Must hold a current license, registration, or certification to assist in the practice of physical therapy in the state of employment.
  • CPR certification is mandatory.
  • A valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation are required.
