Job Title: Quality Technician II

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform primary functions of Quality Assurance Technician I as required, including performing proactive tasks to provide high-quality, efficient, and timely shipment of Sonoco products.
  • Provide QC Lab coverage for PTO and call-outs.
  • Coordinate, verify, and document defect type and quantity for customer products returned for credit (RMA's).
  • Attend and participate in bi-monthly RMA approval meetings and customer complaint and corrective action meetings.
  • Review and complete customer Certificates of Assurance (COA's) prepared by Quality Assurance Technician I.
  • Perform special testing outside of the areas of responsibility for the Quality Assurance Technician and assist with day-to-day investigations into potential quality issues.
  • Enter and maintain Axapta ERP records for generating customer credits.
  • Perform R&D testing as requested by Technical Manager.
  • Maintain QA Hold areas in proper clean and controlled condition.
  • Maintain sample and color file room in proper clean and controlled condition, including cleanout of obsolete files.
  • Perform care of and weekly maintenance calibrations on GC equipment.
  • Coordinate collection, testing, and approval of bulk solvent deliveries.
  • Collect and deliver required customer order samples to customer service representatives.
  • Review and maintain QC Lab files in orderly condition.
  • Review and coordinate QC Food Safety inspection requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments and teams for proactive problem resolutions.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Manage small projects to maintain or upgrade equipment.
  • Perform all duties in support of Sonoco's quality and safety policies.
Requirements:
  • Two-year Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of printing, including a basic knowledge of graphics and plate technology.
  • Working knowledge of the company's ERP system (Axapta).
  • General knowledge of departmental procedures.
  • General working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in an off-shift position that will require overtime, including some weekends.
