Authorization Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Authorization Specialist to join our team at Park Nicollet Health Services. As an Authorization Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our patients receive the necessary care and services by obtaining and documenting prior authorization approvals from insurance companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete insurance verification and obtain prior authorization approvals for procedures and hospital stays
  • Collaborate with the Care Team to obtain and submit clinical documentation pertinent to specific services requiring authorization
  • Maintain and update documentation related to changes in payer prior-authorization, pre-certification, and notification requirements
  • Attend continuing education classes and complete mandatory training to maintain department-specific requirements and professional growth

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated P/C and keyboard experience
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Demonstrated written/verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of EPIC registration and/or any electronic health record
  • Ability to work cohesively and respectfully with a diverse workforce and patient population
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking skills while working through complex situations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-high school degree or certification
  • Healthcare registration experience
  • Healthcare revenue cycle experience
