Job Title: Adjunct Instructor Pool Clinical Medical Assistant

Job Summary:

Piedmont Virginia Community College is seeking adjunct instructors to support a variety of workforce training and credentialing programs across the region. As an adjunct instructor, you will provide effective didactic and skills instruction to engage an adult learner audience, maintain a positive and safe learning environment, and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction in clinical medical assistant courses
  • Maintain a positive and safe learning environment
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures
  • Hold review, remediation, and office hour sessions for students
  • Maintain participation and performance records
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff on curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment
  • Provide timely and appropriate response to student, staff, and partner inquiries
  • Report incidents
  • Participate in professional development and partner onboarding requirements
  • Maintain professional competence, certifications, and licensure
  • Assist in student recruitment activities

Requirements:

  • Certification as a clinical medical assistant (NHA) or medical assistant (AAMA)
  • Two years of direct patient care as a medical assistant
  • Combination of education and industry credentials to demonstrate content expertise
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Commitment to community college philosophy and student success

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in a relevant clinical healthcare field
  • Other certification or licensure as a healthcare professional
  • Experience teaching adult learners and/or in a community college
  • Experience teaching online and/or hybrid courses
  • Experience using Canvas or similar learning management system
  • Recent experience preparing adult learners for success on credentialing exams
  • Current AHA-BLS CPR certification

Work Environment:

This is an on-campus position, not remote.
