Job Title:

Adjunct Instructor Pool - Nurse Aide/Medication Aide Programs

Job Summary:

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is seeking adjunct instructors to support workforce training and credentialing programs across the region. The successful candidate will provide effective didactic and skills instruction to engage adult learners, maintain a positive and safe learning environment, and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide instruction to adult learners in Nurse Aide/Medication Aide programs
  • Maintain a positive and safe learning environment
  • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures
  • Hold review, remediation, and office hour sessions for students
  • Maintain participation and performance records
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff on curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment
  • Provide timely and appropriate response to student, staff, and partner inquiries
  • Report incidents
  • Participate in professional development and partner onboarding requirements
  • Maintain professional competence, certifications/licensure
  • Assist in student recruitment activities
Requirements:
  • Current unrestricted RN or LPN license (Virginia or compact multistate)
  • Two years of experience as a registered nurse and at least one year of direct client care or supervisory experience in the provision of long-term care services
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Commitment to community college philosophy and student success
  • Current AHA-BLS CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Nursing
  • Recent experience teaching Nurse Aide courses and preparing students for state exams
  • Satisfactory completion of a course in teaching adults
  • Experience teaching adult learners and/or in a community college
  • Experience teaching online and/or hybrid courses
  • Experience using Canvas or similar learning management system
  • Meet the VBON qualifications as a primary instructor: have two years' experience as a RN within the previous five years
Work Environment:

This is an on-campus position (not remote).
