Locating Technician II

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Locating Technician II to join our team at T2 Utility Engineers, Inc. As a key member of our Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) field tech team, you will be responsible for operating SUE utility locating and designating equipment, including pipe and cable locators, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and other tools and equipment to conduct utility investigations.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate SUE utility locating and designating equipment, including pipe and cable locators, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and other tools and equipment to conduct utility investigations.
  • Complete detailed accurate daily billing forms, forms, and field sketches or RM Locating.
  • Use of tools and equipment to conduct utility investigations.
  • Drive commercial motor vehicles, however a CDL license is not required.
  • Perform safety set-up and maintenance of traffic operations under direct supervision of senior field staff.
  • Assist with survey and data collection tasks, supporting overall crew activities.
  • Perform daily routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Perform daily basic vehicle maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 4+ years of experience in the utility locating industry or as a SUE Field Tech.
  • Ability to read and interpret utility company prints and design plans.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical (U.S. only).
  • Ability to obtain a DOT medical card for CMV operation (U.S. only).
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical movements necessary to operate heavy tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all climates.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, by company vehicle or commercial airline, up to 2 week continuous stay.
  • Work nights and weekends when required to do so.
  • Must have a good oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • OSHA Safety certifications are a plus.
