Sterile Processing Quality Education Coordinator

The Sterile Processing Quality Education Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in the sterile processing department. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Education Manager, this position is responsible for planning, designing, and auditing procedures related to the processing, sterilization, and HLD of medical devices. The successful candidate will develop and implement training certification programs for sterile processing personnel, maintaining accurate documentation on related information systems. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for establishing and maintaining relationships with operating room management and staff, as well as OR Educators.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement quality improvement projects, monitoring key performance metrics and auditing sterile processing departments.
- Provide quality assurance audits and support for staff in the field of sterile processing, ensuring efficient task completion.
- Report on quality metrics and improvement projects to the Quality Assurance Education Manager.
- Contribute to shift huddles, sharing quality and educational reports to foster a quality-driven staff.
- Maintain compliance with regulations, standards, and guidelines, including AORN, AAMI, The Joint Commission, CMS, CDC, OSHA, and FDA requirements.
- High school diploma.
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through the International Association of Health Care Central Service Material Management or other certification boards.
- Must obtain Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) and Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) within 12 months of hire.
- Advanced certifications as a Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) and Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years in the Sterile Processing field.
- Minimum 1 year of lead or higher responsibility within the sterile processing field.
- Strong working knowledge of principles and practices of sterile processing field.
- Proficient oral and written (English language) communication skills.
- Computer and Microsoft Office proficient.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Works in a patient care environment and sterile processing area with some exposure to infectious disease, contaminated equipment, supplies, and instruments. Hazards are minimized when established safety procedures are followed.
