The core mission of Catholic Charities is to assist those in need and advocate for justice within the community. As the demand for our services increases and becomes more intricate, we are committed to evolving and responding effectively. Our approach encompasses three primary strategies: preventing poverty, addressing basic needs during crises, and fostering pathways out of poverty.

COMPENSATION: $53,000 - $62,000 annually

POSITION SUMMARY: We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented, and compassionate individual who is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive to fulfill the role of Social Worker I.

The successful candidate will work respectfully with children, adolescents, individuals experiencing poverty, and clients from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds. Responsibilities include providing case management services, short-term counseling, and facilitating access to supportive resources. You will assist clients in establishing personal and family goals while offering ongoing aftercare support. Comprehensive counseling will be provided to clients in accordance with program requirements. The role involves effectively engaging with clients facing complex psychosocial challenges, including mental health issues, unstable housing, unemployment, lack of medical insurance, dysfunctional relationships, and legal matters. You may also conduct support and educational groups.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conduct intake and comprehensive case management services, including:
    1. Initial intake, interviews, and assessments
    2. Goal setting
    3. Information and referral services
    4. Personalized client case management plans
  2. Provide assessment services, short-term counseling, skill-building techniques, and aftercare for individuals, couples, and families.
  3. Deliver client services at various outreach locations within the community and assigned facilities. Facilitate support and educational groups as necessary.
  4. Ensure the accuracy, relevance, and timeliness of data and reporting for accountability and client outcomes.
  5. Offer behavioral management support and consultation to collateral sources, coordinating efforts to address the needs of the client population.
  6. Make appropriate referrals and provide comprehensive decision-making counseling to ensure clients' needs are met.
  7. Establish collaborative relationships with community entities, including schools and other professionals, on behalf of the clients served. Work in partnership with external agencies to provide behavior management support and consultation.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Mental Health Practitioner licensure approved by the State of Minnesota (e.g., LSW, LGSW) is required.
  • Preferred: One (1) year of broad-based clinical experience.
  • Preferred: Experience in individual, family, and group counseling.
  • Required: Ability to work with diverse and/or low-income populations, including those experiencing homelessness, unstable housing, and/or mental illness.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification is required.
