SUPERVISORY ROLE: No

COMPENSATION: Starting pay for Leaders/Teachers is $19.00/hour
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday, with 15-40 hours per week. No evening or weekend shifts.

Position Summary
At the Carlsbad Educational Foundation (CEF), the Before and After School Care Leaders and Aides collaborate with fellow team members to serve as mentors, leaders, and role models for students in the Carlsbad Unified School District (CUSD). They are responsible for developing and implementing innovative and high-quality programs and projects, adhering to city, state, federal, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities

- Interact positively with students, parents, school administrators, and program directors, providing supervision to Teacher's Aides.
- Welcome parents and students with warmth and respect.
- Conduct headcount checks and monitor student locations at all times.
- Oversee campus safety and boundaries consistently.
- Lead and engage students in age-appropriate STEAM activities, including:
→ Math and science topics such as astronomy, physics, nutrition, and gardening
→ Technology, computer skills, and engineering
→ Artistic endeavors like collage, painting, and sculpture
- Encourage creative expression, teamwork, and sportsmanship through various activities:
→ Crafts including crochet, mobiles, masks, and card making
→ Music activities such as dance and singing
→ Organized sports and games, both indoors and outdoors
- Promote good study habits, respectful behavior, and community service through:
→ Homework assistance
→ Community service projects

Education and ExperienceFully Qualified State Teachers must possess one of the following:
- A minimum of twelve (12) postsecondary semester units in early childhood education, along with six months of experience in a licensed child care center.
- A valid Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with appropriate age-level endorsement and six months of relevant experience.
Additionally, candidates must hold one of the following Child Development Permits:
- Child Development Associate Teacher Permit;
- Child Development Teacher Permit;
- Child Development Master Teacher Permit.
