Park Groundskeeper

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Landscape Maintenance Crew Member. As a key member of our Parks and Planning department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness, attractiveness, and safety of our park grounds, athletic fields, and garden plots.

• Maintain turf areas, including mowing and trimming, to ensure a well-manicured appearance.
• Inspect parks and clean up debris to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
• Install and maintain landscape materials, such as flowers, trees, shrubs, and grass, to enhance the aesthetic appeal of our outdoor spaces.
• Prune hedges and trees to maintain their shape and promote healthy growth.
• Assist in landscape construction projects, including the installation of new features and the renovation of existing ones.
• Inspect, clean, and maintain equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
• Clean buildings and restrooms as needed to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
• Perform safety inspections and repairs on athletic fields and parks to ensure they are safe for use.
• Construct and perform daily maintenance on athletic fields to ensure they are in good condition.
• Provide support services at Park District and community events, including setup, cleanup, and maintenance.
• Operate District vehicles and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Related experience preferred, but not required.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must be at least 18 years of age to work independently and use all equipment.
• Valid Illinois Driver's License required.
