We are seeking highly motivated and compassionate individuals to join our Nurse Assistant Training Program at Porter Medical Center. As a valued member of our team, you will have the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA).
Program OverviewThe Nurse Assistant Training Program is a hybrid training program that combines online coursework with in-person skills training. Participants will learn the skills necessary to become an LNA and prepare to take the licensure test. Porter Medical Center pays for the class tuition, testing, and licensure fees in exchange for a commitment to remain employed as an LNA in full-time capacity for one year.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Nurse Assistant, you will work closely with residents and patients under the direction of a LPN or RN, delivering care, assisting with activities of daily living, and communicating with the team about resident changes and needs. Responsibilities may include:
- Taking vital signs
- Responding to call lights
- Electronic Medical Record documentation
- Personal care, including bathing, mouth care, toileting, and skin care
- Observing changes to resident and patient health and promoting healthy functioning
To be eligible for this program, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old by the date of licensure test
- Complete the LNA Training Program
- Have previous patient care experience (strongly preferred)
- Be reliable and able to work well as a member of a team
- Have strong communication skills and the ability to follow through
- Be willing to learn, support, and mentor team members as you grow
- Have basic computer skills
As a Nurse Assistant, you will be eligible for full benefits and a competitive hourly rate of $21.45, plus differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts. Every-other weekend will be scheduled off after the completion of the course. These are full-time, benefit-eligible positions.
Employees of this program are eligible for full benefits and are part of a collective bargaining unit.
