Job Summary:

The Preschool Paraprofessional will assist classroom teachers and related service personnel in providing a safe and supportive learning environment for students aged 3-5. This role requires a high level of flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with maintaining children's safety and well-being, including lifting and transferring students as needed.
  • Support students with personal care needs, such as diapering, dressing, feeding, and toileting.
  • Implement activities and skill practice developed by the teacher from the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • Assist students with alternative modes of communication and provide instruction in school and community settings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and collect and summarize progress data as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Provide general supervision to students and monitor student progress through written documentation and observation.
  • Participate in IEP conferences and display flexibility in adapting to changing student needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and implement emergency procedures as needed.
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • One of the following is required: 48 hours of college credit or higher, ParaPro Assessment with a score of 460 or higher, Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or willingness to complete 10 modules in the online training platform Paraeducator within 2 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Six months to a year of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to change school locations during the school day.

The Preschool Paraprofessional will work in a fast-paced preschool environment, requiring the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. The role may involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
