Heavy Equipment Manager Job Description

Job Summary:

Quality Enterprises USA, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Manager to oversee the use, maintenance, and operation of our fleet of heavy equipment. The successful candidate will supervise heavy equipment mechanics, preventative maintenance technicians, welders, small tools mechanics, and other roles as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage department performance through coaching, ongoing feedback, performance reviews, and disciplinary action.
  • Review employee timekeeping records and approve invoices.
  • Ensure safe equipment operation on all company job sites and adherence to manufacturer usage guidelines and company safety regulations.
  • Track and log equipment use, operating costs, licenses, inspections, warranties, and service agreements.
  • Advise the Executive Team on equipment issues and assist with equipment budgets.
  • Allocate heavy equipment to job sites, ensuring timely assembly and removal.
  • Ensure equipment receives proper upkeep by scheduling routine preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Develop best replacement practices and recommendations for company equipment, assist with rental and lease agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable DOT, federal, state, and local safety laws and requirements.
  • Utilize software to create and review work orders, verify repairs, plan mechanic workflow, and set preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Monitor GPS units and record fuel usage.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, business administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in heavy equipment supervision required.
  • Valid Class E Florida driver license with acceptable driving record required.
  • Solid understanding of heavy equipment lifecycle management, equipment types, and intended uses.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Acrobat required.
  • High degree of technical aptitude and excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and planning skills required.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, or sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, or stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequent visits to job sites requiring personal protective equipment.
  • Exposure to outside weather conditions.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Noise level ranges from moderate to loud.
  • Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
