Position Overview:

The Health and Safety Project Consultant plays a pivotal role in overseeing health and safety protocols within the project framework. Reporting directly to the Development Manager, this position is integral to ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

The Health and Safety Project Consultant will be responsible for providing expert guidance and support to the project team regarding all facets of Health, Occupational Safety, and Contractor HSE Performance Management. This role encompasses the following key duties:
  • Implementing the HSE strategy and management system tailored for project operations.
  • Ensuring that project development adheres to mandatory HSE requirements and relevant regulations.
  • Identifying potential HSE risks and hazards, and implementing measures to mitigate them effectively.
  • Monitoring project performance to ensure alignment with established safety targets.
  • Evaluating contractual obligations and coordinating with contractors to align HSE systems and expectations.
  • Managing external HSE specialists and contractors to meet project deliverables.
  • Organizing HSE training programs in accordance with the project’s training matrix.
  • Reviewing and updating induction programs for new staff and visitors.
  • Conducting Project HSE reviews and Peer Reviews in line with governance processes.
  • Collaborating with Project Managers to communicate HSE expectations to contractors.
  • Auditing contractor performance to ensure compliance with safety deliverables.
  • Participating in various HSE-related activities, including developing procedures, conducting risk assessments, and performing safety audits.
  • Visiting project sites to foster relationships and promote HSE improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:

A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess proven expertise in:
  • Developing HSE components for major projects within the oil and gas sector or similar industries.
  • Contract evaluation and ongoing performance management of contractors.
  • Operational safety and health experience, particularly with topsides and subsea facilities.
  • Construction site HSE management, with a solid understanding of relevant principles.
