The primary role of the Occupational and Environmental Health (OEH) Manager is to oversee and enhance the environmental initiatives for the Space Force. This position entails providing expert guidance on environmental regulations covering various topics such as air quality, drinking water standards, hazardous materials, and cultural resources. The OEH Manager must adeptly navigate multiple roles across departments while ensuring strict adherence to environmental compliance standards. All Performance Work Statement (PWS) requirements must be fulfilled.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Duties:
- Manage compliance and maintain databases for all environmental programs, including drinking water, air emissions, natural resources, hazardous materials, and waste management.
- Serve as the technical expert on military, federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Prepare environmental reports and assessments, and review all related data.
- Oversee environmental permitting, project planning, execution, and administration.
- Assist the Civil Engineer in delivering exceptional customer service for military installation operations.
- Provide expert guidance for both internal and external environmental audits.
- Manage the environmental training program for all site personnel.
- Organize and maintain environmental records and documentation in accordance with contract stipulations.
- Review project Statements of Work to ensure proper scheduling and completion with subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS) requirements.
- Supervise the Environmental Coordinator role, ensuring excellence in areas such as safety practices, security compliance, and participation in exercises.
Tools & Equipment Utilized:
US Space Force (USSF) computer systems, Office 365 applications, air quality monitors, water quality sensors, and other necessary equipment.
Work Environment:
Primarily office-based, with potential exposure to extreme temperatures during outdoor tasks.
QualificationsEducation / Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, biology, chemistry, or a related field.
- Massachusetts Drinking Water License is advantageous.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Experience:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with diverse personnel, including program staff, IT staff, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Experience working with military and/or federal, state, or local government clients.
- Preferred knowledge of NEPA processes, air quality management, drinking water treatment, and hazardous waste management.
Skills & Technologies:
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and related financial software.
- Experience with environmental monitoring tools such as air quality monitors and water quality sensors.
