The Solid State Phased Array Radar System (SSPARS) Logistics / Transportation Lead is responsible for overseeing logistics and transportation support activities at designated sites. This role ensures the efficient operation of supply chain and transportation functions to meet mission requirements, while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The SSPARS Logistics / Transportation Lead will report directly to the Site Manager.


Responsibilities

Major Job Activities: 

  • Supervise all logistics activities, including inventory management, equipment handling, and materials distribution at the site.
  • Ensure proper packing, crating, and shipment of Government property in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Oversee the Reusable Container Program to maintain container serviceability and facilitate efficient shipment processes.
  • Arrange and coordinate the shipment of Government property using the most cost-effective and mission-responsive methods, including commercial carriers and military channels.
  • Manage the use of military and/or charter commercial aircraft services, including transportation authorizations and coordination with relevant authorities.
  • Coordinate the pick-up, delivery, and processing of supply and equipment items to support site operations.
  • Ensure all supplies are properly documented, including hazardous materials and classified shipments.
  • Support vehicle management activities, including the maintenance and serviceability of Government vehicles used on-site.
  • Assist with vehicle dispatching and provide emergency roadside repair and recovery services as required.
  • Oversee the utilization of Government-provided resources and services, including office space, utilities, and fuel purchasing programs.
  • Coordinate with the Government Program Manager for any issues related to Government-provided resources.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including DAFI, DoDR, and other applicable standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all logistics and transportation activities, including vehicle usage, fuel dispensation, and equipment maintenance.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to logistics and transportation personnel at the site.
  • Conduct training sessions to ensure personnel are aware of and comply with all relevant procedures and safety standards.

Material & Equipment Directly Used: 

US Space Force (USSF) computer systems, Office 365 applications, logistics management software, inventory tracking systems, warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks), and transportation scheduling tools.

 

Working Environment: 

  • Typical warehouse and vehicle maintenance facilities
  • Willingness to travel to various intra-site locations as required.
  • May be exposed to extreme cold when working outdoors and extended periods of darkness due to geographic location. (Alaska, Greenland)

Physical Activities: 

  • Lifting and moving items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Walking and standing for long periods, including moving between different locations.
  • Bending, crouching, climbing ladders and stairs, and reaching to access storage areas and inventory.
  • Sitting at a computer for tracking and inventory management tasks.

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement: 

Must be a U.S. citizen and possess a DoD Secret security clearance or be eligible to obtain and maintain one.

 

Required Experience: 

  • 8-10 years of experience in logistics and transportation management, preferably in a military or Government contracting environment.
  • Experience with Government regulations, including DAFI 24-602, DoDR 4500.9, and other relevant standards.

Skills & Technology: 

  • Strong understanding of supply chain management, transportation coordination, and inventory control.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to supervise and train personnel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in using logistics and supply chain management software and tools.

Supervisory / Budget Responsibilities:  

May supervise subordinate workers performing base logistics, warehouse, and transportation operations, activities, and services.
