Job Title: Assistant City Attorney

The City of Richmond seeks a highly skilled and experienced Assistant City Attorney to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will be responsible for providing legal services and representation to the City and its officials, employees, and departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Protect the legal interests of the City of Richmond and provide legal services and representation to City officials, employees, and departments.
  • Review legal matters, provide appropriate counsel, and initiate or respond to legal actions.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies to achieve the City's goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with other City departments and agencies to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Virginia Bar and licensed to practice law in Virginia.
  • At least 2 years of experience in civil law, preferably in a government agency or municipality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex legal issues and develop effective solutions.
