Job Summary

As a Medical Assistant II at New London Hospital, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in an outpatient setting. Your primary responsibilities will include taking vital signs, administering injections, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, and maintaining examination rooms. You will also be responsible for greeting patients, checking them in, and notifying providers of their arrival. Additionally, you will assist with patient examinations and treatments, handle patient situations over the phone, and schedule appointments and procedures with medical professionals.

Key Responsibilities

* Take and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure
* Administer injections and perform simple diagnostic tests
* Collect and process routine laboratory specimens
* Maintain examination rooms, including cleaning and sterilizing equipment
* Greet patients, check them in, and notify providers of their arrival
* Assist with patient examinations and treatments
* Handle patient situations over the phone, including scheduling appointments and procedures

Requirements

* Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
* Current BLS certification
* Previous experience in an office or outpatient ambulatory care setting is strongly preferred

Preferred Certifications

* American Association Medical Assistants (AAMA) certified - CMA designation
* American Medical Technologists (AMT) registered - RMA designation
* Certified Clinical Medical Assistant plus 12 month D-H apprenticeship program - CCMA designation
