The Maintenance Trades Helper is responsible for performing general labor tasks, operating support machinery, and assisting skilled workers in completing non-technical assignments related to designated duties.

Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY TASKS:

  • Supports technicians by ensuring they have the necessary materials and tools.
  • Maintains cleanliness of workspaces, tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Executes basic tasks as instructed by technicians.
  • Job responsibilities may evolve based on contractual obligations.
  • May need to operate vehicles and material handling equipment.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned to achieve operational goals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work may be conducted in adverse weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and humidity, as well as in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic substances, and loud noises may occur.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be necessary, including face masks.
  • Specific contractual education and experience requirements will apply where relevant.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Job entails bending, climbing, prolonged standing, sitting, and occasionally working in tight or awkward positions.
  • A standard work week consists of 40 hours (5 days).
  • Flexibility in working hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime, may be required based on mission needs.
Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Specific educational and experience requirements may apply based on contracts.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • A valid State Driver's License with no restrictions is necessary.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required, such as a birth certificate or U.S. Passport.
  • Must maintain driving privileges as required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Understanding of safety protocols and ability to adhere to OSHA regulations.
  • Preferred minimum of one (1) year of experience in a related trade.
  • Must demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, punctuality, sound judgment, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions provided in English (written, oral, or diagrammatic).
  • Must interact courteously and professionally with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other staff members.
  • Experience or familiarity with automotive maintenance trades is advantageous.
