As a vital member of the surgical team, the Anesthesia Support Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of anesthesia services.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the safe lifting, transferring, and positioning of patients, ensuring that all necessary positioning devices are readily available.
- Coordinate the maintenance and repair of anesthesia equipment, adhering to established protocols for troubleshooting and equipment management.
- Manage inventory levels of anesthesia supplies, adjusting stock as necessary based on usage trends, and overseeing the ordering and inspection of supplies.
- Maintain and clean anesthesia machines and monitors, following strict protocols for setup and calibration of physiological monitoring devices used during surgical procedures.
- Organize and oversee the functionality of the anesthesia workroom, ensuring that all equipment is properly cleaned and decontaminated in accordance with health guidelines.
- Procure special supplies and equipment in urgent situations, collaborating with supply management to meet immediate needs.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Preferred: 6 months of training or experience in medical equipment maintenance or medical supplies.
- Preferred: Practical knowledge of basic medical instruments and treatment procedures.
- Preferred: Understanding of medical terminology to interpret physician instructions.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Certification from the American Heart Association is preferred.
Travel is rarely required for this position.
