We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Examiner IV to join our team at the State of Vermont. As a Tax Examiner IV, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of tax returns, while providing exceptional customer service to taxpayers.
Key Responsibilities- Review and examine tax returns for accuracy and completeness
- Conduct audits and investigations to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations
- Provide guidance and support to taxpayers on tax-related matters
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure timely and accurate processing of tax returns
- Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations, and apply this knowledge to ensure compliance
- Licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and two (2) years of professional experience in tax examination, accounting, auditing, or business administration
- OR Bachelor's degree or higher and one (1) year of professional experience in tax examination, accounting, auditing, or business administration
- OR Associate's degree with courses in accounting, finance, business administration, taxation, and three (3) years of professional experience in tax examination, accounting, auditing, or business administration
- OR Two (2) years of experience as a Tax Examiner III
