Job Summary:
Air Methods is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pilot Rotor Wing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our flight crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within our assigned operational area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner, adhering to Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and General Operations Manual guidelines.
- Conduct thorough pre-flight checks to verify the aircraft's airworthiness and complete a walk-around inspection before each flight.
- Exercise final authority regarding aircraft operations and passenger safety.
- Ensure the medical flight team is familiar with the aircraft's medical systems and interior.
- Complete required documentation and participate in flight planning and coordination.
- Participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, and community outreach initiatives.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, with two to five years of related experience and/or training.
- Commercial and Instrument Rating for the category and class of aircraft.
- First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate.
- Ability to maintain a weight not exceeding 250 pounds and be under 70 years old.
- Experience flying in the category for a commercial operator or in the military within the previous 24 months.
Visual Flight Rules (VFR) Program:
- 2000 total flight hours with a minimum of 1500 flight hours in the category.
- 1000 hours of Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time in the category.
- 500 hours of rotor wing turbine time.
- 200 hours of cross-country flight time, with at least 50 hours at night.
- 100 hours of unaided night PIC time (50 hours can be substituted with 100 hours of Night Vision Goggle (NVG) time).
- 50 hours of actual or hood instrument time in flight and in the category.
