Job Overview

Overair, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Test Pilot to join our Flight Test team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for piloting our air vehicles, conducting flight tests, and developing user interfaces, operating procedures, and training programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pilot all Overair air vehicles.
  • Conduct flight tests, including pre-flight preparation, briefings, debriefings, and after-flight reporting.
  • Develop and implement flight test plans and procedures.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the Overair Ground Control Station (GCS).
  • Conduct workload, ergonomic, and handling quality assessments.
  • Collaborate with company DER Test Pilots to develop certification methodologies, training concepts, simulators, and related documentation.
  • Participate in the certification process with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
  • Conduct formation flying, flight training, and media demonstrations.
  • Perform mission suitability assessments.
  • Participate in Technical Review Boards (TRBs), Safety Review Boards (SRBs), and Technical Review Reports (TRRs) as required.
  • Write flight test reports.
  • Assume safety oversight responsibility for ground and flight test operations.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a recognized Test Pilot School or equivalent level of experience as a Test Pilot.
  • 5+ years of experience as an Experimental Test Pilot.
  • Familiarity with standard flight test processes and procedures.
  • Experience with Uninhabited Aerial System (UAS) certification and testing.
  • Knowledge of the FAA civil certification process.
  • Knowledge of the Fixed-Wing/Rotorcraft (FW/RW) light transport, Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), and training missions.
  • Experience with Risk Management, including Hazard Identification and preparing Risk Assessments.
  • Hold a current Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certification.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Flight Test Engineering or other engineering discipline.
  • Experience with flight testing Uninhabited Aerial Systems (UAS).
  • Experience working with the FAA and familiarity with aircraft, helicopter, or powered lift FAA certification programs.
  • Experience with flight testing eVTOL aircraft.
  • Experience flying tilt-rotor aircraft.
  • Experience operating light transport helicopters and/or aircraft.
  • Experience with formation flying with UAS.
  • Formation flying, flight training, and media demonstrations.
  • Experience developing/optimizing simulators/ground control station, and training equipment.
  • Experience in developing digital flight control systems.
  • Experience flight testing rapid prototype aircraft and components.
  • Experience working in fast-paced small teams.
  • Familiarity with Victorville (VCV) and Edwards Air Force Base (EDW) airspace.
