Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Geodetic Earth Scientist to join our team at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). As a Geodetic Earth Scientist, you will analyze the Earth's gravity and magnetic fields, geophysical structure, material properties, and dynamics for geospatial intelligence and DoD applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze Earth's gravity and magnetic fields and weapon systems
  • Develop spatial and temporal models defining Earth systems and dynamics
  • Maintain the World Geodetic System (WGS)
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Geodesy, Mathematics, Physical Science, or a related discipline that includes at least 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework in any combination of Astronomy, Cartography, Computer Science, Engineering Science, Geodesy, Geology, Geomatics, Geophysics, Mathematics, Meteorology, Orbital Mechanics, Photogrammetry, Physical Science, Physics, Remote Sensing, or Surveying.

You will also need to have experience in conducting work related to Civil Engineering, Geodesy, Geophysics, Geotechnical Analysis, Geodetic Surveying, or a related field that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience in the following is desired:

  • Completion of advanced coursework such as: Calculus III, Advanced Calculus, Linear Algebra, Ordinary Differential Equations, Partial Differential Equations, Signal Processing, Numerical Analysis, Complex Variables, Mathematical Modeling, Geodesy, 300+ level Statistics, Vector Analysis, Numerical Methods, Fourier Analysis, or Potential Theory.
  • Rudimentary experience with mathematical, statistical, or scientific software (i.e., MATLAB, Mathematica, Surfer, Fledermaus, STK, ENVI, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technology or software.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a multidisciplinary team to solve problems.
