Role Summary

The Geomatics Office (SFN) is responsible for delivering Geomatics content, overseeing functional management, and conducting analyses to ensure the accuracy of GEOINT. The mission of SFN is to facilitate GEOINT precision through geodetic, geophysical, and photogrammetric sciences and content. Key functions include:

  • Maintaining and updating World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS 84) content, encompassing the WGS 84 reference frame, World Magnetic Model, Earth Gravitational Model, and controlled imagery.
  • Providing functional management for all users of Geomatics content, including datum transformations and coordinate conversions to ensure interoperability with WGS 84.
  • Delivering and maintaining essential Geomatics content in the form of Foundation GEOINT Focus Group (FG) surfaces, which include topographic elevation, gravity, geotechnical soils, and cross-country mobility.
  • Conducting multi-sensor analyses in geodesy, geophysics, geotechnics, and photogrammetry, while offering survey support to Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Managing controlled imagery content and developing delivery mechanisms to meet targeting and FG requirements in alignment with agency objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the National Center for Geospatial Intelligence Standards (NCGIS) and NGA's Source Operations & Management Office (SF) in creating and maintaining WGS and Geomatics standardization artifacts related to geospatial information.
  • Support the NCGIS and SF in documenting WGS and GEOMATICS standardization artifacts necessary for end-users in the collection, production, dissemination, and exploitation of GEOINT.
  • Act as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for the World Geodetic Systems and Geomatics – Focus Group (WGSG FG) and the Geospatial-Intelligence Standards Working Group (GWG), guiding the implementation of WGS and Geomatics standards.
  • Provide consultancy for GWG in defining lifecycle requirements for WGS and Geomatics standards and assist in developing Technical Standards.
  • Coordinate efforts with GWG, WGSG FG, SFN Senior Leadership, and various stakeholders to ensure alignment and compliance.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of domain-specific standardization artifacts, which include standards, implementation profiles, product specifications, and guidance documentation.
  • Facilitate activities across focus groups and provide guidance to the NSG/NGA regarding implementation and compliance criteria.
  • Support the creation of web capabilities for online access to standardization products.
  • Contribute to the development and upkeep of Intellipedia and IntelDocs pages to support online standardization efforts.
  • Ensure adherence to web services architecture across various sectors and organizations.
  • Incorporate metrics and project milestones into reports and presentations for Senior Leadership and the Standardization Community.
  • Assist SMEs in simplifying complex topics for broader understanding.

Required Qualifications

  • Top Secret SCI (TS/SCI) Security Clearance
  • US Citizenship
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Experience with web-based collaborative platforms, particularly SharePoint.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with Subject Matter Experts to produce official documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data extraction and analysis.
  • Familiarity with Adobe PDF software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in delivering clear and concise project updates.
  • Adept at interpreting complex topics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Geospatial Intelligence Standards and related working groups.
  • Familiarity with publishing to registries within the Intelligence Community or Department of Defense.
  • Background in Geodesy, GPS/GNSS, Geodetic survey, Geophysical data, Terrain data, Photogrammetry, Imagery data, or GIS.
  • Knowledge of database design and data management standards.
  • Experience integrating data from legacy systems.
