Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Commercial Vehicle Operator to join our dynamic team. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient transportation of materials and equipment across various job sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all state and federal regulations while maintaining accurate logs during travel.
- Manage all necessary documentation related to transportation and delivery.
- Maintain consistent communication with the site supervisor regarding pickup and delivery instructions, as well as any safety concerns.
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicle equipment and supplies to guarantee road safety.
- Possess knowledge of maintenance procedures for both single and multi-rear axle vehicles, ensuring compliance with local licensing requirements.
- Perform pre-trip inspections and accurately complete driver logs, explaining the inspection process as needed.
- Safely maneuver and control the vehicle in various conditions, ensuring proper signaling and hazard awareness.
- Efficiently load and unload materials while securing loads appropriately.
- Oversee routine fueling, lubrication, and basic servicing of the vehicle.
- Understand and operate air brake systems when applicable.
- Assist with shop or yard tasks as directed when not driving.
- Occasionally lift and carry loads up to 50lbs.
- Perform all duties with a focus on safety to prevent personal injury and equipment damage.
- Be prepared to assist ground crews with daily tasks when not operating a vehicle.
Qualifications:
- Valid Commercial Driver's License for the relevant state.
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills and strong communication abilities are essential for interacting with clients and team members.
- Previous experience in commercial driving is preferred.
- Must be DOT certified and pass a drug test and background screening.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Good eyesight is necessary for safe driving.
- Able to drive for extended periods, up to 8-10 hours daily.
