Job Title: Diabetes Program Registered Dietitian

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Dietitian to join our Diabetes Program team at the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska. The successful candidate will provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition education to clients with diabetes, while adhering to the Standards of Practice in Nutrition Care for Registered Dietitians.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide nutrition screening, education, and medical nutrition therapy to clients with diabetes on an individual and group basis.
  2. Assist in developing the Diabetes Program annual proposal, plan of care, and annual reports.
  3. Participate in Quality Improvement initiatives to improve continuity of care for patients.
  4. Collaborate with the medical team and pharmacy to provide remote patient monitoring services for chronic disease management.
  5. Participate in various trainings and meetings to stay updated on current nutrition, dietetics, and diabetes knowledge.
  6. Implement the instructions as directed by the Diabetes Program Administrator and comply with policies and procedures of the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska.
  7. Comply with all ethical and professional codes applicable to the profession of dietetics and federal, state, and tribal laws and ordinances.
  8. Maintain accurate and complete records of client visits, education, and nutrition therapy.
  9. Recruit Native Americans with diabetes or at high risk of diabetes to participate in the diabetic control and prevention programs.
  10. Provide transportation to Native Americans to attend the Diabetes Program and other health-related programs.
Requirements:
  1. Registered Dietitian and Licensed Medical Nutrition Therapist in the State of Nebraska.
  2. Able to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within three months of hire date.
  3. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access programs.
  4. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  5. Valid driver's license and be insurable.
  6. Successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background checks.
  7. Able and willing to travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Certified Diabetes Educator or qualified to become certified within 12 months after hire date.
  2. One or more years of experience working with Native Americans or Native American organizations.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of Public Law 93-638 and the Privacy Act of 1974.

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is an at-will employer. Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe. However, all qualified individuals are eligible.
