Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our team at Gulf South Foot & Ankle. As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient processing of medical billing, insurance claims, and patient accounts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize medical billing software and payor websites to accurately process patient billing and insurance claims.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients prior to appointments.
  • Generate monthly statements and review for collection placement.
  • Notify patients of out-of-pocket responsibility for upcoming surgeries and procedures.
  • Review patient accounts for accuracy and completeness, resolving any discrepancies as needed.
  • Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to resolve billing inquiries and disputes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing regulations, coding practices, and insurance policies.
  • Collaborate and communicate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to ensure seamless billing processes and patient satisfaction.
  • Generate reports and maintain billing records in compliance with regulatory standards.
Requirements
  • Proven experience working in medical billing or healthcare administration, preferably in a podiatrist office or related healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in medical billing software and familiarity with medical coding (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) and billing terminology.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, insurance representatives, and colleagues.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of healthcare billing regulations, compliance standards, and HIPAA guidelines.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in medical billing or healthcare administration preferred.
