Patient Services Representative II

UPMC Primary Care Frederick is seeking an experienced Patient Services Representative II to join our team.
Job Summary:The Patient Services Representative II is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare providers. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinates front office staff in performance of daily functions, including registration, scheduling, and billing.
- Verifies patient insurance coverage and obtains necessary documentation.
- Collects co-payments and payment for services, and reconciles account balances.
- Provides training to new staff and acts as a lead resource.
- Coordinates the ordering of supplies and maintains office supplies inventory.
- Scans information into the medical record and opens and distributes mail.
- Completes referrals and performs other duties as assigned.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Medical Secretary, Customer Service Representative, Scheduler, or Medical Assistant with a minimum of two years' experience in an ambulatory care office or outpatient care facility.
- Proficiency in use of computer, keyboarding, etc. with medical terminology knowledge required.
- Accuracy and attention to detail are extremely important.
- Must possess strong organizational and communication skills and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and registration/scheduling process and systems.
- Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance plans.
- Knowledge of insurance verification systems.
- Previous team leader or supervisory experience.
