This role necessitates the selected candidate to undergo a comprehensive training program prior to commencing duties at their designated location. This position encompasses a wide array of critical responsibilities within the realm of Driver and Vehicle Services, reporting directly to a Motor Vehicle Associate Supervisor. The incumbent will be tasked with managing Federal registration and tax documentation related to various transportation agreements and vehicle title processing.Desired Qualifications
Candidates lacking the preferred qualifications may still be considered if they meet the job requirements. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking both English and Spanish.Key Responsibilities
The following functions are essential and are common across all roles within this classification, though this list is not exhaustive of all duties that may be performed.
Executes a variety of transactions including the issuance, renewal, suspension, and revocation of driver and vehicle credentials; reviews driving records; inspects vehicles; assesses fines; and evaluates customer history for outstanding issues.Provides exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients by gathering necessary information to assist with all required transactions.
Recognizes situations that deviate from standard procedures and recommends exceptions in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, while ensuring customer protection.
Accurately manages and accounts for all financial transactions related to DMV services, ensuring all fees are reconciled and deposited appropriately.
Interprets and explains federal and state laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to driver and vehicle services to various stakeholders including the public, legal professionals, and government agencies.
Reviews and verifies the authenticity of various documents required for credential issuance, ensuring completeness and validity.
Utilizes multiple systems to assess customer eligibility and process transactions efficiently.
Investigates and resolves discrepancies, applying sound judgment to make informed decisions.
Assists customers with non-DMV services such as voter registration and other related inquiries.
May conduct examinations to assess drivers' knowledge and skills for safe vehicle operation.
May perform inspections on vehicle equipment and systems to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Prepares various reports and documentation as required.
Job Requirements
Qualifications for Motor Vehicle Services Specialist III
Candidates must demonstrate competency in the following areas: Two years of experience in document processing, including the evaluation of records for compliance with relevant laws and standards. Two years of experience in customer service, ensuring prompt and courteous assistance to clients. Two years of experience applying motor vehicle regulations and policies. Two years of experience utilizing automated systems for data management. One year of experience operating equipment related to driver or vehicle services. Knowledge of supervisory practices through relevant training or experience. Valid Driver's License required.Employment Conditions
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
