Family Shelter Recreation Coordinator

Job Summary

CAMBA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Coordinator to join our team at the Kings Inn Family Shelter. As a Recreation Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning and implementing recreational programs and activities for clients, as well as supervising and training program staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and lead recreational activities to enhance the social development of clients
  • Organize and facilitate social/peer support events, including group facilitation
  • Design and produce aesthetic visuals for public spaces of the shelter
  • Maintain and post a weekly and/or monthly calendar of all client programmatic activities
  • Input client data using the DHS CARES database
  • Escort clients as needed
  • Communicate effectively with clients, direct reporting staff, peers, supervisors, and funders
  • Encourage teamwork among direct reporting staff and peers
  • Troubleshoot client and direct reporting staff problems and make decisions in accordance with program policies, procedures, and protocols
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (e.g., B.A., B.S.W.) and/or equivalent experience
  • Must obtain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance, The Register of Substantiated Category One Cases of Abuse or Neglect aka Staff Exclusion List (SEL) clearance and Criminal history information checks via fingerprinting with New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services prior to start of employment
  • Ability to maintain clearances throughout the duration of employment
  • May be required to become First Aid/CPR certified
  • May be required to become certified in overdose prevention
  • Bi-lingual preferred
Benefits
  • $40,000-$45,000 annually
